{"id":821,"date":"2013-08-09T02:11:22","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T02:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/friendsofcmsp.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=821"},"modified":"2025-09-03T18:41:52","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T00:41:52","slug":"trail-crew","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/friendsofcmsp.org\/?page_id=821","title":{"rendered":"Trail Crew Schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Welcome to 2025 Trail Dogs!<br \/><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For <strong>newcomers<\/strong>, our tasks are broken into two categories<strong>: Corridor Maintenance, <\/strong>that is<strong>, <\/strong>removing foliage that is trying to takeover passage along the route and <strong>Tread Improvement<\/strong>, especially dealing with <strong>Erosion Control<\/strong>. Typically in the spring\/early summer <em>corridor maintenance<\/em> takes precedence. As Mother Nature gets herself warmed up, <em>tread improvement, <\/em>becomes the major work.<\/p>\n<p>We generally work one or two days per week, but please don\u2019t feel you need to be out every day. Remember, you are a volunteer. By the way, if you volunteer 48 hours, you qualify for a Colorado State Parks pass for next year that is good for all state parks in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, current trail issues will keep us along the trails in the lower park. However, this season we will spend time on top of Cheyenne Mountain itself. We know we have corridor and tread maintenance issues on the upper section of the Dixon Trail and the other top-of-the mountain trails and will be fitting those issues into our schedule.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">IMPORTANT!: All new and prospective volunteers at Cheyenne Mountain State Park must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/cpwconnect.state.co.us\/D\/CMSP\/GetInvolved\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Volunteer Application<\/a> on the website of the State Park. To be connected with the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Trail Dogs, please select &#8220;Trail Building &amp; Maintenance&#8221; in the Interests listing.<b>\u00a0<\/b> You may also \u00a0contact Jasmine Wolcott at jasmine.wolcott@state.co.us. <strong>Once you are on our crew list, you will also be contacted weekly by one of our trail crew coordinators with upcoming projects.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On work days, please wear<strong> long pants<\/strong>, <strong>sturdy work shoes<\/strong>, and <strong>work gloves<\/strong>, and bring rain gear, sun-screen, insect repellant, eye-protection, a daypack to carry it, and <strong>plenty of water<\/strong>.
